Nonprofits and charitable organizations seeking grant funding now have the opportunity to apply for the 2025 grant cycle through six local community foundations affiliated with the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa (CFNEIA). Grant applications are currently being accepted, with a submission deadline of April 15, 2025, at 5 p.m.
The following community foundations have opened their grant cycles:
Grants support projects in the areas of arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, and health and human services.
The online grant application and full eligibility details are available at www.CFNEIA.org/Grants. Applicants can receive technical support until 5 p.m. on April 15, 2025. Grant recipients will be announced in June.
Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and government entities. Tax-exempt organizations that do not hold 501(c)(3) status may also apply if their project is deemed charitable. Organizations in this category should contact Dotti Thompson at 319-243-1358 or dthompson@cfneia.org to discuss eligibility before submitting a proposal.
In addition to grant funding, these community foundations are seeking new volunteers to serve on their local impact committees beginning in July 2025. Impact committee members play a vital role in ensuring grant funds are strategically invested in their communities.
Impact committees review grant applications and distribute over $100,000 annually in each county to support projects that improve quality of life. Members work closely with CFNEIA staff to implement best practices in grantmaking and align funding decisions with the needs of their counties.
Individuals interested in volunteering can complete the volunteer interest form at www.CFNEIA.org/Volunteer. Community members may also nominate a colleague, community leader, or friend who may be a good fit for this important role. The deadline for initial consideration is April 15, 2025.
For questions about volunteering, please contact Shanda Hansen, Director of Affiliate Impact at CFNEIA, at shansen@cfneia.org or 319-243-1357.
By participating in the grant process—whether as an applicant or a volunteer—community members help shape a brighter future for their counties. We encourage local organizations and engaged individuals to take advantage of these opportunities to make a meaningful impact!
