Women for Good educates, engages, and inspires giving to improve the lives of women and girls in Black Hawk County. Established in 1999, Women for Good (formerly Women in Philanthropy) grants over $10,000 every year through the Women's Fund endowment. Women for Good was established with a $50,000 donation from local philanthropist, Pauline Barrett, who saw a vision and purpose for this program. Since then, through membership dues and donations, the Women’s Fund endowment has granted over $95,000 to programs and projects impacting women and girls. The need continues to grow.

The Women’s Fund receives over $100,000 in grant requests every year, and in 2017 the membership was able to support two projects through grants of $6,700 each. Click here for a full list of grants made through the Women's Fund.

Quarterly educational programs to learn about the issues women and girls face in Black Hawk County.

Opportunities for members to tour nonprofit facilities and volunteer with programs meeting essential needs in the community.

Membership dues and donations increase our good through the Women's Fund, a permanet fund creating a forever impact.

Membership

Membership offers women an opportunity to engage with other community-minded individuals at quarterly luncheons, the Women’s Fund grant selection process and occasional volunteer opportunities or site visits. Through these interactions, Women for Good members discuss community issues and learn about the biggest needs for women and girls in our community.

Annual membership dues are $150 and support the Women's Fund, a permanent endowment fund held with the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, to benefit projects supporting women and girls in the areas of education and literacy, violence and safety, health and healthcare, and poverty and homelessness. $100 is tax deductible and is also eligible for a 25% state tax credit
